Young Professionals of Iowa Announces 2018 YP Day at the Capitol Speaker Lineup

DES MOINES, Iowa (March 9, 2018) – Young Professionals of Iowa (YP Iowa) is pleased to announce
the event schedule and speakers for the 2018 YP Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 21.

“YP Iowa’s Day at the Capitol is a unique experience for young professionals to learn how to engage in
Iowa's legislative process," said Joseph Benesh, President of YP Iowa. "It is important for us to think
differently and think bigger about the way we, as rising voices in our communities, can positively shape
our state.”

Two panels with leaders of diverse roles within the advocacy world will discuss issues impacting
emerging professionals. An interactive workshop will demonstrate how to advocate for issues and work
with state and local officials to create change. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Lt.
Governor, Adam Gregg who is dedicated to the success of Iowa's YPs.

● Budget concerns/corporate tax breaks
● School safety and funding
● Water quality
● Growth outside of central Iowa
● Future Ready Iowa
● Civility in politics
● Encouraging YPs to engage in local politics
● Making running for office more attractive and affordable for young people
